Henro gave the Z7 bow 5/5 stars.

Review:

I’ve been a faithful Mathews shooter for a few years now and have never been let down by any of their bows I have owned. When the Z7 was released I was eager to go shoot it and was at my local Mathews dealer waiting for him to setup their demo as soon as it came off the shipping truck. I had previously owned a Switchback, Prestige and DXT
in that order and felt they had been the best bows I had ever shot at the time. I was a little skeptical about the Z7 at first because I had loved how smooth my DXT was shooting but from the first shot of the new bow I was shocked. I couldn’t believe how the bow felt smoother, and more dead solid in the hand than anything I had shot before in my
life. It was also dead quiet. The back wall was rock solid and the bow felt seriously 5lbs lighter draw than anything I’d ever shot at the same draw weight. The looks of the new riser blew me away and I was amazed at how easy it was to hold and aim with the long riser.

I shot the bow a little more and immediately put my order in for a black annodized riser and camo limb 29″ and 70lb draw Z7. I received my bow at the very beginning of December 2009 and loaded it all up with all my custom and ordered parts I had waiting for it. I’ve tried a bunch of different parts on it since then and am completely happy how I have it setup now. It’s setup for hunting shooting a 517gr Easton Full Metal Jacket 300 at about 275fps at the 29″ draw and 73lbs. The bow is shooting super tight groups at all distances out to 60 yards and I’m 100% confident taking this out for the fall 2010 archery season. With the heavy arrows I was able to take off the monkey tails and only have a loop and 3/16″ G5 meta peep and the bow is deadly quiet. In my opinion this is the best hunting bow on the market right now. I’ve recommended it to a bunch of people and told them to go shoot it and a
lot of them have come home a little lighter in the wallet but thoroughly impressed! Archery to me is an addiction and this new Z7

has definitely fed my cravings! In case people are wondering as well the bow is rigged up with the following parts:

  • Winner’s Choice string & cables
  • QAD Ultra Rest Pro HD
  • Shrewd Aluminum Grip
  • Sure Loc Lethal Weapon 1 Site
  • Paramadness bow sling
  • Mathews T5 quiver
  • B-Stinger 8.5″ 11oz stabilizer with quick disconnect
  • Mathews Orange dampers
